The following list of Arent Fox's five legal departments andtheir respective practice groups is provided as a concise navigational tool inorder to aid our guests in finding additional information about our Firm.
Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn, PLLC was founded in Washington, D.C.in 1942. From its beginning, two features have characterized the Firm'spractice: its knowledge of and expertise in the regulations and affairs of theGovernment and its ties to and representation of the Washington businesscommunity. The cornerstones of the Firm's practice today -- real estate andtax, federal trade regulation and international business -- can be traced backto the work of the founding partners.
During our over fifty years of service, the Firm's capabilities, reputationand client base have grown. Today our practice consists of clientrepresentation not only in the local and regional market, but on a nationalbasis, particularly in regulatory and legislative matters, and internationallyin both regulatory and transactional matters. Our Firm of 240 attorneys isorganized into five practice departments including litigation; federal practice; general business; international; and EEH (employment, ERISA and health).
The business knowledge and industry experience of its lawyers enable ArentFox to understand the complex arenas in which our clients operate. The Firmrepresents their interests before international, federal and state agencies, inlitigation and arbitration proceedings, in legislative matters, in businessplanning and in implementing business decisions. The breadth and depth of theFirm's expertise further enhance the problem-solving process by permittingArent Fox to assemble rapidly the most appropriate team not only to solve aproblem, but to anticipate or prevent one. Prior to joining Arent Fox, many of the Firm's lawyers were active infederal, state and municipal bodies. Among our partners are a former UnitedStates Senator, a former Member of the United States House of Representatives,a former Maryland United States Attorney, and a former Corporation Counsel forthe District of Columbia. Our attorneys have broad experience in representinggovernments, local, national and international companies, organizations andtrade associations before the U.S. Congress and U.S. federal governmentagencies, and in commercial transactions and litigation and arbitrationproceedings throughout the world. Our clients have included governments andgovernment entities, agencies or state corporations of a number of countries,and international institutions including the World Bank, International FinanceCorporation and the Inter-American Development Bank.
In addition to its headquarters in Washington, D.C., the Firm has majoroffices in New York City, Budapest,Hungary, Bucharest, Romania, andRiyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In most of the othermajor trading countries of the world, the Firm also has a network of foreigncorrespondent counsel to assist its clients on matters involving questions offoreign law.
