| We tried repeatedly to access this site without success. We called the firm, but our only options were to dial by name. We looked up the firm's domain name and called the firm providing DNS services (UUNet), but we needed a password to get into the support department. Finally,we e-mailed info@jw.com, webmaster@jw.com, and the technical contact for the firm's domain (see file "networksolutions.html" in the Musuem directory). Would your clients try this hard if your site were down? Do you have a process for making sure that your site stays up? Two days later, the site was back online. The phrase "7cities" was misspelled on the home page, and the first time we saw the home page, all of the images were broken. A few minutes later, they were fixed. The search engine output page also had broken images. Page layout throughout was poor. Server response was very slow. Professional graphics, yes, but overall our most frustrating experience in this round. Note that the formula we use for automatically calculating scores does not consider the possibility that a firm's site is down. |
