We recommend configuring your DNS so that your site is accessible with or without the "www" in the URL. The firm's home page includes 10 links to the site's major sections, which immediately gave us an idea of the site's logical structure. Mouse-over graphics provided navigation feedback. The same ten sections (plus the home page) were linked to from a navigation bar on the subpages. The "Recruiting" site was under construction. We feel it's better to omit sections that are under construction, or to publish some information in each section. Each section of the site should always be under construction (as a website should always be a process not an event) but should never be labeled as such. A generous selection of articles from the firm's many practice areas were online, the articles were all dated, and the articles page was organized first topically then chronologically. We wish more firms were as disciplined in their organization of articles. Too often, articles are disorganized and undated. The firm scores bonus points for including maps and driving directions on its "Locations" page. Again, many firms omit this very useful information. The "News" section is really a "What's New" section, but we recommend simply integrating the new information into the site and periodically highlighting new content on the home page. |
