Placing the search engine on the home page is a great way to invite people to search for what they came for. Rather than make people guess how you've organized the site, just let them find it on their own. And if they do want to browse, just make sure the site is well organized. Another great sign on the home page - contact info for the offices is right there. We suspect that many people visit sites for precisely this information - and too many firms are missing an opportunity to encourage people to get in touch with them. Listing articles under "What's New" is a good idea - but including dates would help us figure out HOW new. Unfortunately, there are few clues. (On the "Publications" page, the most recent articles were four months old... not bad.) Navigation is simple - using smaller versions of the same icons from the home page, a simple, unobtrusive navigation bar makes jumping from section to section quite easy.
