| Here's an interesting approach: instead of having a traditional home page, Jones Day's site takes to a randomly-selected profile of one of its offices. It's a nice effect - you start out "in" the site, and can easily maneuver to the other sections you are interested in. We went to "Publications", and were disappointed to see that of the lengthy list of publications (none of which are on the site, by the way), only four were published in 1998. This suggests either that the firm hasn't published much this year (doubtful, given the plethora of articles listed in 1997 and 1996) or that the firm simply hasn't updated the site. Contradicting that assumption, though, is the "What's New" section, which lists several mini-articles that have been added recently. We wonder why these articles aren't listed under "Publications" too. The presentation is impressive - graphics are crisp and professional, and pages generally load quickly. We did encounter some errors - when viewing the Litigation Group page, for example, none of the sections were linked - which meant there was no information to read. (We assume it exists but that somehow the links are not active.) The use of a database for the attorney directory ensures the smoothest way of both maintaining it as well as streamlining lists of attorneys by practice area, location, or other information. |
