Our initial reaction (quite positive) to the volume of press releases was muted by the fact that all press releases were contained on a single page (which, by the way, was almost 100k). This makes for excessively long downloads, and is just unnecessary - split up in separate files, it would be much easier to read, and you'd only load what you wanted to read. The graphic design is impressive - bright colors complement a simple site structure that carries throughout the site. The use of frames is tricky, as evidenced by several pages on the site that prompt the browser to add scroll bars to individual frames (making the browser window look very fragmented). The lawyer directory simply frames the Martindale-Hubbell directory - not our first choice, but at least the contact info is here. (One problem with this approach: try clicking on the firm's URL when viewing their listing at martindale.com. See why we don't like frames?) We like the site structure, but would encourage another attempt at streamlining the overall experience - things like nested frames (the Martindale-Hubbell problem) and unintended scroll bars distract from an otherwise attractive, impressive site. |
