Barnes & Thornburg's site represents a dramatic improvement over last year's site. A complete overhaul of the images on the site has resulted in a clean, crisp design that loads quickly and makes navigation straightforward. Last year's lack of content has been replaced by numerous newsletters, press releases, and significant information about their recruiting program (though the recruiting site's presentation was nowhere near as good as the rest of the site). Especially impressive at this site were the search engine (available on all pages - and it offers the ability to search either the attorney directory or the site itself... a nice touch) and the attorney directory, which allows visitors to search it in several different ways. This emphasis on user-friendliness is all too rare, as firms tend to focus on what they want to say instead of what their visitors want to see. It's a subtle but important difference, and Barnes & Thornburg get it right. We'd like to see more current content (most content seemed to be added in either March or August, suggesting infrequent additions), but overall were impressed with this site.
