Though both the images and the Java applet on the home page take a while to download, the overall impression is fairly elegant. The Java applet is a nifty navigational aide, but its required download time makes its value suspect. Is convenience worth that much time? We don't think so. (And if they want to use someone else's Java applet, they should register it.) The use of frames on this site ends up stealing most of the screen real estate, so when you do get to a newsletter, you have less than 50% of the screen in which to view the file. Newsletters ought to be dated, so that users can decide whether or not they're interested before downloading the entire PDF file. Attorney bios are very well designed, though phone numbers ought to be included (e-mail addresses are, which is good). Practice profiles are good, and we like that the attorneys in each group are listed at the bottom (with links to each attorney's bio). We'd like to see more emphasis on making the site more usable - at times the screen feels cluttered given the large top and left frames.
