| Here's something you don't see much on the Net: a "best viewed by" statement that indicates that you should use Netscape 1.1 or greater. Considering that Netscape released 1.2 in late 1995, with 2.0 in wide release in early 1996, 3.0 in late 1996 and 4.0 this summer, saying that the site is best viewed by Netscape 1.1 is like saying that this road is best driven by a horse with hooves. The "What's New" section is over four months old, so updates should certainly be made more frequently. Graphically, the presentation is clean and consistent. What's surprising is that this kind of good design is as rare as it is among such large law firms. The shared navigation bar is present on all pages and carries through the overall design strategy. Presentation of many subpages ("Professionals," "Services," etc.) could be better. Currently, each page is a long list of links, with no sub-navigation options or visual cues to break up the lengthy lists. The overall structure is sound, which bodes well for Steel Hector & Davis. As they continue to add content, the site will become increasingly useful. |
