| At the home page, you're presented with the option of choosing high graphics or low graphics. They're not kidding about the high graphics: at 28.8, the nearly 200 K of graphics on the home page took almost two minutes to load. Visually, the page is very appealing, presenting a professional and unique image of the firm. The animated graphics that are the main subsections of the site are a little difficult to discern. How would the average user know that a series of electricity poles represented "Legal Links"? If you're trying to find a phone number, it will take you at least four clicks from the first screen: High Graphics; Meet PGE; Our Offices; Washington, DC. This could probably be streamlined, or a "Contact" section could be added. Once you get many of the sections ("News of Note," for example), there is some good current information about the firm, including recent speeches, publications, and awards the firm has either produced or received. One problem: the frames-based approach is very difficult to read on a 640x480 monitor (though an 800x600 monitor had no problem). The impressive graphics continue throughout the site, and "brand" the site nicely. |
