Nevertheless, the overall presentation is very nice, as the graphics are consistent throughout and lend a professional feel to the entire site. The JavaScript message in the status bar is a distraction and is unfortunately replicated elsewhere on the page. (If the header says "Employment Opportunities," do you really need a message on the bottom saying "Mintz Levin Employment Opportunities -" scrolling from right to left?) The use of frames is a nice navigational tool (major site subsections are always available for clicking in the left frame), however the presentation is not optimized for a 640x480 screen, which means that anyone on a notebook or a small display will be doing a lot of left-right as well as up-down scrolling. While Mintz, Levin publishes a wealth of content, it is almost exclusively published in PDF format, which tends to be somewhat browser-unfriendly. The search interface is fantastic, allowing users to browse through their hits, one by one (instead of viewing one file, clicking "back", and viewing the next). Content is updated frequently, as evidenced by the "last updated" banners at the top of most pages, the "News" section (which is full of timely information - date headings are a big help), and the drop-down bar on the home page with its links to the most recent information. |
