| The top half of this home page is excellent, featuring unique graphics that present a strong first impression. But the bottom half includes three cliches: a scrolling text Java applet, Netscape button, and IE button. We also wish that the imagemap used newer client-side technology. Inside, large graphics slowed navigation, but page layout was consistent and pleasant. Page titles did not always include the name of the firm, making those pages less useful to future bookmarkers. Layout of the attorney profiles was among the best we've seen, and the narrative style was supplemented nicely by links to Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory listings for individual attorneys. More firms should follow this approach. The "new articles" page contains substantive material that appears to be dynamically generated from a back-end database. Unfortunately, dynamically-generated documents will not be indexed by public search engines (such as AltaVista and InfoSeek), which is where much Web site traffic comes from these days. An Excite search engine is available, though the look-and-feel of the output does not match the rest of the site, and only titles of found pages are listed. Overall, a site with a great deal of content that's worth coming back to. |
