Appeals Law

This site provides information on civil and criminal appeals. It is a service of the law firm of Cox & Cox. Its purpose is to provide guidance for non-lawyers about how appeals work, and to provide some insight on fundamentals for attorneys just beginning to tackle civil and criminal appellate work.

In addition to essays on appeals for both lawyers and non-lawyers, a number of actual appellate briefs are offered in their entirety for reference and as examples of how briefs are designed and drafted, and how issues are selected and argued.

This site does not provide legal advice, nor is any attorney-client relationship created by the use of this site. The site is designed for informational purposes only. Any non-lawyer needing help with an appeal should seek out an experienced appellate attorney for advice and representation.
